Reception

We from Malgrate

In Malgrate, hospitality is an authentic value, deeply rooted in tradition and in the warmth of its people. Throughout the town’s streets, along the lake, or in small establishments, you can feel a genuine welcome that makes every visitor feel at home.

Here time slows down and the experience becomes personal, made of smiles, courtesy, and attention to detail.

The Cuisine

There are few traditional dishes from Lecco, but three are known to everyone for their delicacy combined with a strong flavor: rice in cagnone with perch fillets, polenta with missoltini (sun-dried lake fish), and fish in Carpione (marinated).
In addition to lake fish featured on many restaurant menus, the presence of Valassina and proximity to Valtellina make it easy to taste various types of polenta served with roasted and boiled meats – as per Lombardy’s gastronomic tradition – along with pizzoccheri, ravioli such as the “patole” from Sant’Antonio di Esino Lario, the Brianza-style California beef, and finally, the timeless pizza to be enjoyed along the lakefront.

In Malgrate, along the lakefront, there are several restaurants, some of which reinterpret the gastronomic tradition of Lecco. In the center of Lecco city, there are historic trattorias and delicatessens where you can consume and purchase various products.

The festivals and local fairs in Lecco’s towns and districts offer a precious opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culinary world. Run by volunteers and aimed at raising funds for the community and the most vulnerable, these are moments of sharing that often dedicate one or more days to local dishes. Absolutely not to be missed.

In Malgrate, you can find services for renting sailboats and motorboats, traditional bicycles and e-bikes, as well as a taxi boat, perfect for exploring the wonders of the lake from a unique perspective.
